Rebuilding Oakland Together
By Dan
Rebuilding Together Oakland volunteers, all 2,500 of them, will be at numerous Oakland locations this Saturday, according to a RTO press release, renovating the homes of low-income seniors and disabled persons, as well as local community centers. Here is a look at five locations:
• A team from Canon Constructors will renovate the home of Harriett, a disabled woman in the Brookdale neighborhood of Oakland whose home fell into major disrepair.
• Two teams of volunteers from Give Something Back & Scott Valley Bank are working on the homes of two sisters, Athelean and Viola, who have lived in the Havenscourt neighborhood of Oakland for 40 years.
• A team from Pyatok Architects is renovating the home of Ronald, a retired boiler maker who is disabled and cares for his elderly mother.
• The Fred Finch Youth Center will be tackled by a team of volunteers from U.S. Bank.
• A team from Skanska Construction Company are doing repairs and landscaping at the Harbor House located in the San Antonio neighborhood in Oakland.
