The annual Girl Scouts Cookie Sale is back and this year more than 30,000 Girl Scouts, under the newly formed Girl Scouts of Northern California council, will participate in the Cookie Program.
On February 25, Girl Scouts launched its latest feature to the cookie sale—the online Cookie Booth Finder—now it is even easier to find a cookie booth in your community.
At www.cookiefinder.org, local residents can enter an address, date, city and time to find the cookie booth most convenient for them. The online cookie locator features a map powered by google along with additional information on the Cookie Program. The sale is on now through March 16.
The Girl Scout Cookie program teaches financial literacy, including money management, how to set realistic goals and how to run a business. Girl Scout cookie entrepreneurs will learn how to earn, save, invest and spend money. The money earned from cookie sale activities will help support troop field trips, learning programs and community service projects.
“The Girl Scout Cookie Sale is Girl Scouts most recognizable program,” said Marina Park, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern California. “What most people don’t know is that the cookie tradition has grown into one of the leading economic and business activities for girls.”
The annual cookie tradition began more than 90 years ago and has become one of the premier business programs for young girls. This year, Girl Scouts has partnered with the Simmons family of MTV’s hit show “Run’s House” (“Reverend Run” of Run-DMC) to help spread the word on the entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs at Girl Scouts. Vanessa and Angela Simmons, the hip hop legend’s teenage daughters, will encourage girls to think “business” and to participate in this year’s Cookie Program
