Weekend Events

Events to watch for this weekend:

• Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY) will hold a Community Dialogue on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at Cole Middle School, 1011 Union Street in West Oakland. Professor Howard Zehr, known as grandfather of the U.S. Restorative Justice movement, and Minnesota District Attorney Don Johnson will be the guest speakers. RJOY is a three-year old organization founded by Attorney Fania E. Davis, author and activist Aeeshah Clottey and Oakland City Councilmember Nancy Nadel

• Enjoy some great jazz at the Bird's Nest monthly series. This Sunday hear Mark Levine on piano and John Wiitala on bass and enjoy wine and gourmet small plates by Larry Smith. 5 p.m.–7 p.m. (doors open at 4:30 p.m.), Jan. 27, $25 (includes food/beverages), 2875 Glascock St., #109, (510) 534-6163.
