Weekend Events

Enjoy some great Oakland events starting tonight and running through the weekend.

• Join The Crucible tonight through Saturday for their Hot Couture: A Fusion of Fire and Fashion event. It's conflagration on the catwalk with models strutting incendiary creations from over 20 designers. It is the ninth anniversary for the nonprofilt education facility. 7 p.m., Jan. 17–19, 1260 Seventh St., (510) 444-0919.

• Celebrate the grand opening of the new Fruitvale Public Market tomorrow. Enjoy live music, arts and crafts and food tasting. 10 a.m.–noon and 4 p.m.–7 p.m., Jan. 18, free, 3340 East 12th St. @ 34th Avenue, (510) 535-6926.

• See art by Richard Leon at the Oakland Cityscapes and Landscapes exhibit this Saturday. Opening reception 6 p.m.–9 p.m. Jan. 19 (exhibit runs through Jan. 26), Luka's Taproom & Lounge, 2221 Broadway, (510) 451-4677.
