China Earthquake Relief

On May 12 a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck China. One day later Family Bridges, an Oakland nonprofit, began accepting Red Cross donations for relief efforts. Donation boxes were placed in five locations on Oakland's Chinatown and more than $27,000 was raised and presented to the Red Cross. “We can only imagine the devastation to human life, land, and infrastructure that has befallen China as a result of the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred. Our constituents consider Family Bridges as their link to their homeland China, therefore, we will be establishing donation sites,” said Corinne Jan, Family Bridges’ chief executive officer.
