Miles of Myles

Greet events in Oakland this weekend:

• Hear the folk pop of Karry Walker tonight as she presents songs from her most technically challenging album ever, Foamy Lather. Also playing are 20 Minute Loop and Danny Pearson (formerly of American Music Club). • Back from tour, locals Mia and Jonah are playing songs from their new album Room's for Adelaide at the one-year anniversary of their favorite cafe. • Great art comes to life this weekend at East Bay Open Studios as some 50,000 people visit more than 400 artists displaying their work in more than 400 locations in Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Walnut Creek, Dublin, Livermore and Benicia. The area’s largest art event is free; maps are available at various East Bay locations, in the East Bay Express or at Pro Arts this month. June 14-15, (510) 763-4361.

• Celebrate 30 years of winemaking with Lost Canyon Winery Saturday. 1 p.m.–5 p.m., June 14, $30, 2102 Dennison St., (510) 534-9314.

• Second Saturdays at Peralta Hacienda Historical Park presents Aloha Festival at Peralta Hacienda. 2 p.m.–4 p.m., June 14, free, 2465 34th Ave., (510) 532-9142.

• VOLUME CONTROL 2: Check out spoken word and poetry at the Asian Pacific Islander America Spoken Word and Poetry Summit. 6 p.m., June 15, $10–$20, Eastside Cultural Center, 2277 International Blvd.

• The City of Oakland's Office of Parks and Recreation presents a special Father's Day Jazz Golf Tournament and Concert Sunday. Love it, sounds like a great weekend. Heard Karry Walker and Myles Boisen last night on the Derk Richardson radio show on KPFA—they sounded great. Plus Mia and Jonah, sounds like a great weekend of music.
