FACTS:
• Domestic Violence affects 31 percent of the nation's female population.
• Domestic Violence is the single largest cause of injury to women ages 15 to 44 in the U.S., more than muggings, car accidents and rapes combined.
• 5,005 cases of Domestic Violence were reported to the Oakland Police in 2006.
• Violent offenders are 4 times more likely to grow up in homes where they have seen violence, most runaways are from violent homes.
• 4 million American women experience a serious assault by a partner during an average 12-month period.
• 1 out of 3 teens on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours.
