New Whole Foods

East Bay residents will soon have more Whole Foods and Trader Joe's stores to choose from ... and not a moment too soon. In Oakland, Trader Joe's is poised to take over two former Albertson stores—one on College Avenue and one on Lakeshore Avenue. But the big news is that tomorrow, Whole Foods Market launches a new store at 230 Bay Place at the corner of 27th and Harrison streets. Local residents got a sneak peek on Monday but the store launches with an 8:45 a.m. bread-breaking tomorrow. An opening-day gift basket raffle benefits Share First Oakland. Doors open at 9 a.m. and patrons can enjoy free samples, demos, live music and more. Regular store hours are 8 a.m.–10 p.m., (510) 834-9800.
