EARTH SEED invites us to envision and enact our collective future from a world awakening to its unraveling.

EARTH SEED follows a pilgrimage through California led by People’s Kitchen Collective. Journeying from present-day Los Angeles to Mendocino Woodlands, the documentary visits with people and places building models for survival and our collective future. The film invites us to envision and enact our collective future from a world awakening to its unraveling.

Rooted in Octavia Butler’s Parables series, the legacy of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense, and the diaspora of the global south, EARTH SEED enacts radical hospitality as a survival practice. It does so by deepening our relationships with BIPOC activists, artists, educators, farmers, youth, and elders.

The EARTH SEED project is funded by Mellon Foundation, Creative Capital, Rainin Foundation, Ruth Arts Foundation, Headlands Center for the Arts, and individual donors.

EARTH SEED: A People’s Journey of Radical Hospitality is a feature length documentary by filmmaker Fox Nakai and co-lead artists Jocelyn Jackson, Hai Vo & Sita Kuratomi Bhaumik of People’s Kitchen Collective.
